Spring Coat Drive for the Johnson County Christmas Bureau
April 15th through May 31st
Fellowship Hall-Drop-off
This year to avoid a lot of Fall and Winter congestion,
we want to offer you this little Spring suggestion.
We're trying to go a new direction,
by having a "Spring Coat"collection.
So perhaps while you are doing your closet cleaning,
you will run across a coat or jacket you won't be needing.
We want to give that coat or jacket a home,
for others who have none to keep them safe and warm.
So bring in your gently used coats and jackets to Fellowship Hall and
we will store them until they are needed, and
when Winter's chill again approaches,
they will be most appreciated!

Mission Trip
Reading, Kansas
May 14th-May 19th
June 1st and 2nd
Do you want to experience "God's Love in Action?" If you do then plan to join us as we bring that "Love" by helping others in need, to the town of Reading, Kansas. Reading was virtually destroyed by an EF-3 tornado in May 2011.
The scheduled dates we will be working are May 14th-May 19th and the dates of June 1st and June 2nd. You may join us to work the entire week or you may choose to work on days that fit your schedule. Just be sure and let us know.
We will be working on a Habitat for Humanity home, already under construction and on another house rebuild in Reading. Lodging, breakfast and dinner will be provided by Emporia Grace United Methodist Church. High School students 16 years of age and older may work, provided they are accompanied by a parent.
No experience is necessary, just remember "It is THE LOVE that you bring that makes all the difference!"
You may sign up at the Connection Point in Fellowship Hall and for more information or you may contact Janet Williams at

God's word tells us in Acts 6, that even though you are not present in the church building, you are a valuable part of our church.
Caring Ministry is a connectional ministry where MUMC volunteers and staff visit with those people who are in the hospital, assisted living, nursing home, or their own home.
Our visits may include praying, listening to the person, sharing stories, reading scriptures, Holy Communion and a host of other things depending on the needes of the person.
Our Resources and gifts for our shut-ins come from many different sources.
- Handmade-"The Cross of Life"(MUMC, D.S. Wood Worker)
- Worship Service-"DVD"(MUMC-Sound and Video Technicians)
- Handmade-"Lap Robe"(Monticello UMW sewing circle)
- Handmade-"Prayer Shaw"(Annual Conference-local churches)
- Purchased-"Flowers and Cards"(Flower Market)
