We're so glad you are considering joining us at Monticello United Methodist Church. We are a welcoming church where you will experience God, and you'll meet new friends along the way. Here is some quick information for visitors:
WorshipWe have two main worship services. The 10:30am (10:45am beginning on October 23) service is in a traditional style with choral music and hymns. The 9:00am service is a more contemporary service with praise music and a full band. Both services are open to any age and are currently attended by those from children to senior adults. We want those attending here as members or visitors to have a choice in their preferred worship style. So, no matter what age you are, you are welcome in either service!! Visit our Worship page using the menu at the top. There, you'll find additional worship information, including upcoming sermon series topics.
Worship with ChildrenInfants, toddlers, children, and teens are welcome in any service and encouraged to join us with their family. We are just so glad you are here. The excitement and energy of young children in worship is a blessing to us all, even when they make a little noise! A children's sermon is always presented during the 10:30am Traditional Service, but not normally during the 9:00am Praise Service. Parents can certainly come forward with their children if they would prefer. Our goal is simple--we want you to be comfortable in worship with children. If your child becomes a little too noisy for your comfort level, you can step out but still view and hear worship on screen in the fellowship hall just behind the sanctuary. This large space is our "cry room." But, know that our pastor and church leadership are never bothered by children in worship. For our youngest visitors, a nursery is available at both services. Sunday school for those in grades K-5 is also available during the 9:00am service. Visit our Children's Ministry page using the menu at the top. Click on "Get Plugged In" and then "Children's Ministries." There, you'll find nursery and children's programming information.
ParkingThe parking lot in front of the church (nearest to 75th Street) is reserved for those displaying a "Handicaped" parking tag. But, even those spots that are not marked "handicapped" are really reserved for our senior adults or those that may struggle to walk from the back lot. Please help us by leaving these spots open for our senior adults. There is ample additional parking behind the church for everyone else.
DressWhether you come to church in shorts and a T-shirt or a 3-piece suit, you are welcome in either service. God accepts "just as we are" and so will we!
CommunionHoly Communion is offered in worship roughly once a month, but not on any specific day. It is usually timed to coincide with special days in worship, such as the beginning of a sermon series, World Communion day, or other special times in the life of the church. Communion is always available after worship weekly, though, in the Prayer Chapel for those that would prefer to receive communion even when it is not in worship. As a United Methodist Church, we believe communion is open to all. No matter if you are a visitor, from another denomination, or just seeking a church home, you are welcome to receive communion. We believe receiving communion merely is a visible way of saying, "God, use me as you will." During communion, you will be offered a piece of bread to dip in a cup of juice. You receive both at the same time. Then, you are free to kneel at the altar or just return to your seat. We want you to be comfortable in this holy moment. Gluten free elements are always available at one station. Just ask any server for the gluten free option.
